Kannawidan Ylocos Festival: Pride of the Ilocanos

Image
Kannawidan Ylocos festival is the commemoration of the foundation of the province of Ilocos Sur. It is a celebration that lasts from the last week of January and ends on the first week of February.      It is the Ilocanos’ way of giving thanks to the Almighty not only for the bountiful blessings but also for the rich heritage of the province, including the close family ties among the Ilocanos.      It is a tradition that during the opening of the festival, there is usually a mass held at the St. Paul Metropolitan Cathedral. It is followed by a procession of the Patron Saints of the 40 parishes and images of Jesus Christ and Virgin Mary around Vigan City. DepEd Officials of the province usually join the mass and the procession. This event showcases the deep-rooted religiosity of the Ilocanos.      The festival pays more attention on Ilocano children. It is because Ilocano culture are not recognized by the younger gen...

Golden Gift

During the Second Quarter in Information and Communication Technology, I have gained new learning and discoveries. I have learned to define HTML and identify web standards. To describe and compare the two types of tags and to create a draft for Blog Post.   I also learned to identify the basic tags used in HTML, to describe the tags used in basic HTML and create an HTML file using the basic HTML tags.           I have encountered problems and challenges such as in identifying the HTML Tags, describing the tags used in HTML Stand Alone tags and in creating an HTML file applying the basic HTML formatting tags. It is a little bit hard for me also in identifying the HTML Text Formatting tags, describing the tags used in HTML alignment attribute and when creating an HTML file applying the text formatting and alignment attributes.           I overcome this challenges by making a plan, I ask fo...

Vigan City Fiesta

Image
Every year on January 25th, the Vigan City Fiesta is celebrated. It is commemorated on the feast day of St. Paul the Apostle's conversion. The patron saint of Vigan City is St. Paul. Before his conversion, St. Paul was known as Saul, a fervent persecutor of Christians. His name was changed to Paul when he was struck by a personal experience with Jesus Christ on his route to Damascus, and he braved a lot of hardships and danger to bring the message of God to far-flung locations.      The Metropolitan Cathedral, which is the heart of the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia, is Vigan's primary cathedral and is dedicated to St. Paul. The St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur, a notable Catholic educational institution in Vigan that is next to the cathedral, is also dedicated to the patron. The Vigan City Fiesta is normally held over a period of many days. It involves the celebration of Vigan's cityhood anniversary, which takes place on the 27th of January each ye...

New Year, New Me!

Image
On the first of January, the expression "new year, new me" is frequently used in the United Kingdom. On this day, it is highly popular to make a new year's resolution. This may be as simple as giving up something you enjoy, such as sweets or chocolate, in order to be healthy. People also prefer to try something new, such as taking up a new activity or going to the gym, in order to improve their fitness. In fact, there are a lot of options for you! As a new year's resolution, the majority of individuals I know opt to join a gym and eat better foods. Many people gain weight during the holidays because they eat a lot of fatty foods.      In my opinion, New Year's resolutions are a terrific way to motivate individuals to do something positive for themselves. It's easier to keep to your own resolution when there are a lot of other individuals who do the same thing. A group of pals might make a fitness commitment together. Sometime during the wee...

In the middle of the COVID-19 outbreak, people celebrate Christmas

Image
In the middle of the COVID-19 epidemic, how does one enjoy Christmas this year?  This is most likely the first time in modern history that we are encouraged to celebrate the season of Christmas in its purest form, in its simplicity. Amid all of this, we've been thinking about how to enjoy Christmas this year with just family members who live in the same place. We're thinking about wearing masks, keeping social distance in check, and washing our hands often. For our mutual security and safety, we are being prevented from seeing one another. This year, we won't be able to enjoy the typical Christmas cheer and merrymaking. COVID, on the other hand, should not detract from our Christmas celebrations! This season, let us share more hope, peace, joy, and love! This is where I am reminded of our Savior's birth. Simply said, it's a Christmas tale. Only his mother and father were present when our Lord and Savior was born in a manger. A shepherd, a few animals, and the thre...

The Department of Education (DepEd) commemorates the 29th National Children's Month (NCM) in November with a variety of programs promoting children's rights and welfare in the new normal, based on their domestic and international rights. This year's commemoration will focus on a variety of topics related to children's rights to survival, growth, protection, and participation in the new normal setting, with the national theme "New Normal na Walang Iwanan: Karapatan ng Bawat Bata Ating Tutukan." Each week throughout November, four aspects of children's rights will be discussed. The first week focused on survival rights, while the second week focused on development rights. In the meantime, the third and fourth weeks, respectively, will focus on the rights to participation and protection. In conjunction with the newly established Child Rights in Education Desk under the Office of the Undersecretary for Legal Affairs, the DepEd Central Office will host the Th...
